Based in Reedley, Pendle and East Lancashire, my business specialises in all aspects of domestic/commercial interior and exterior painting, decorating and refurbishment. How did my business Reedley Décor evolve?
The idea of starting my own business based on providing painting and decorating, was born out of a range of experiences;
- I have previously bought and refurbished properties. There were a number of challenges to face, including project management, managing various trades bought in for their services, learning new skills, managing a budget and ensuring the refurbishment came in on budget.
- I have many years experience doing DIY, taking pride in my own home and having exacting standards regarding decorating.
- I worked as a painter and decorator before I went to university and during holidays whilst studying, learning traditional skills and methods of working.
- Being a homeowner, I appreciate the difficulties in getting reliable, trustworthy and professional tradesmen to complete work.
- I have spent the majority of my adult life (25 years) in teaching, working as an art teacher/senior leader in a profession very much under the magnifying glass. Therefore, I am accustomed to attention to detail and I strive for perfection.
- I have always been practically minded, I thrive on learning new skills, including trade based qualifications.
- I also have a range of skills, enabling me to attend to a variety of tasks. Often when completing work for clients, I have been asked to sort out other issues whilst there.
- I have a can do attitude. Every problem has a solution and I remain focussed on the job at hand until I achieve the high quality work I have become accustomed to delivering.
